Hong Kong May 30, 2005 – Phoenix Satellite Television (Phoenix TV) (鳳凰衛視) has kicked off its recruitment for the Miss Chinese Comos Pageant 2005 (2005中華小姐環球大賽) and details were announced at a launching ceremony held earlier in Beijing.

With emphasis on both intelligence and beauty, the Pageant is open to qualified Chinese applicants from around the world and this year’s deadline for entry submission is 15 July.

Jiang Xin Rong (江欣榮) and Lee Sze Kei (李詩琪), title winner of the Miss Chinese Comos Pageant 2003 and current title incumbent respectively, attended the ceremony.  They shared with the media and other guests their participation in community works in carrying out their duties as title holders.

In line with the Pageant’s emphasis on charity works, Jiang flew purposely to Singapore (新加坡) to visit handicapped children and was involved in the construction of a dam, built against flooding, in Chi Cheng (赤城縣), Hebei (河北). The Pageant also staged a charity night in Malaysia in 2004, raising about RMB Yuan three million for  handicapped students.

Additionally, Lee joined international star Jackie Chan (成龍), Hong Kong Performing Arts Guild Chairman Eric Tsang (曾志偉) and Olympics gold medallist in the Phoenix goodwill group’s visit to the tsunami-affected areas in Indonesia last April. A fundraising event was also held in aid of tsunami relief.

Since its launch in 2003 by Phoenix TV, the annual Miss Chinese Comos Pageant has become one of the most anticipated events among the global Chinese audiences. The Pageant welcomes the participation of Chinese contestants, aged from 18 to 28, from around the world.

Jiang, from Shanghai, has signed contract with Phoenix TV and started her career as a media personality.  Lee, representing Malaysia, is well prepared now to kick off her career in performing arts after accumulating enriching experience during her tenure.
